Kp Reach Programme

For the last three years, ASWA has been running a Global Fund supported program known as Key Populations – Representation, Evidence, and Advocacy for Change in Health (KP REACH) programme.

ASWA is a sub recipient in the Regional Grant known as KP REACH where HIVOS is the Principle Recipient. ASWA has been implementing the sex workers component of the KP REACH programme as a Sub Recipient alongside other organisations such as the African Men for Sexual Health and Rights (AMSHeR), Coalition of African Lesbians (CAL), Southern Africa HIV and AIDS Information Dissemination Service (SAfAIDS), Gender DynamiX (Representing Southern African Trans Forum), M & C Saatchi, and Positive Vibes.

KP REACH aims to strengthen the capacity of regional key population networks working with sex workers, transgender persons, lesbians, and MSM to address HIV, with specific focus on 8 countries in Southern Africa (South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi).

KP REACH focuses on strengthening the capacity on our network in the 8 countries (as mentioned above). This includes, building capacity of sex worker led organisations and national movements through a series of activities in collaboration with the sex worker led groups and organisations in the eight countries. The capacity strengthening activities are expected to improve our members’ participation in national level advocacy processes.

Due to the nature of this grant, ASWA has not sub-granted its members.  However, there is funding allocated to each specific country implementation plan, developed in consultation with the in-country member organisations.

The funding cycle ends in December 2018.
