GRACE KAMAU

REGIONAL COORDINATOR

Grace Kamau- is an advocate for health and human rights of key populations including sex workers, LGBTI and People Who use drugs. Grace has also worked as a consultant for the Global Network of Sex Worker Project where she documented the lived experiences of sex workers and examples of good practice informing development of advocacy tools strengthening sex worker led groups’ engagement with HIV policy makers, programmers amplifying their voices locally, regionally and globally. A graduate of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Grace holds a bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in Sociology and Political Science.

Rose Wanjiku

Membership & Communications Assistant

She is a media expert with more than 10 years experience in, writing, editing, web content and social media management. She is a graduate of @WomeninNews programme at Wits University. She holds a BA in media and creative arts from Moi University. Besides media work, Rose is passionate about human rights and has collaborated in various projects with women and Key Population groups for the last 10 years.

RACHAEL KAMAU

OPERATIONS ASSISTANT

Rachael Kamau is the Finance & Operations Manager at ASWA with over eight years experience working as an administrator. She is in-charge of finance and administration tasks. Besides, she’s skilled in Human Resource and Logistic Operations. She holds a Diploma in Journalism and Public Relations from the Kenya Technical University, a certificate in Information Technology (IT) and Monitoring and Evaluation. She has vast knowledge and skilled in person-centered counseling approach and trained HIV/AIDS peer educator.

LAVERIA MWANGI

SWAA PROGRAMME COORDINATOR

Laveria Mwai has been a member of the SWAA faculty team since 2018. She has previously worked with the Bar Hostess Empowerment and Support Programme (BHESP), which is one of the learning sites for SWAA. She is skilled in program and event management. Laveria is also passionate about building the skills and capacity of sex workers in Africa.

WHAT WE THINK ABOUT OUR CAUSE

The African Sex Workers Alliance (ASWA) is the Pan African alliance of sex worker-led organizations. ASWA was formed in 2009 with an initial membership drawn from 10 African countries. As of 2018, ASWA has members from 32 African countries. In the years since its formation, ASWA has increased in its reach and its influence across Africa and around the world.
