ASWA calls for funding to end violence against sex workers in Africa.

2020 Global Theme is “Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!”

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence occurs yearly and it involves a global campaign to eliminate violence and starts on 25 November and ends on the 10th December which is a Human Rights Day. The Campaign was initiated by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership (CWGL) at its first Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991.

The activism is to support sex workers to stay safe and free of violence. We are all urged to take action during this year’s 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence.

The 2020 Global 16 Days Campaign is purposed to make the sex workers more visible by showcasing their plights and recommendations since their lives and livelihoods have been acutely impacted by violence against them, COVID-19 and the unprecedented economic crisis that has followed.

ASWA calls for the elimination of the alarming existing pandemic of violence against all sex workers.

ASWA also calls for donor support to end violence against sex workers in Africa.
